In 2017, I am organising two international workshops on political theory/philosophy with reference to Japan:
- Filling the ‘Japan-shaped hole’ in Comparative Political Theory. University of Tokyo 24th-25th June 2017.
- Beyond Side-stepping and Side-sweeping: The Past, Present and Future of Kyoto School Political Studies. Place and time to be confirmed, probably Dublin or Tokyo.
Calls for papers will be sent out soon, and I plan to edit two volumes of papers for publication.
I also hope to run a symposium on translation of philosophical texts my colleague Barty Begley and I had organised at University College Cork, but which had to be cancelled.
In 2001, I was employed by the now defunct Conflict, Development and Peace Network.(CODEP) and organised The Economics of War and Peace at the School of Oriental and African Studies.
