Teaching and supervision

I have acquired a wide-ranging, diverse experience in terms of contents and the linguistic, cultural and intellectual backgrounds and abilities of the students I have had the privilege to teach and learn from over the years. I enjoy interacting with students and supporting their intellectual growth through critical and respectful dialogue. Positive peer and student evaluations attest to the success of my strategy, but I learn and improve every semester and expect this dynamic to continue.

I have taught in area studies, politics, and philosophy departments in the UK, Ireland and Japan. I have supervised BA and MA dissertations in Japanese studies, international relations, and translation studies. My experience so far is summed in the following list:
